Picture of Damian Nassiri Our cannabis business lawyers can help you obtain your cannabis business license. At Cannabis Law Group, we have helped many clients obtain cultivation, distribution, manufacturing, retail storefront and delivery cannabis licenses since the passage of Proposition 64 in 2016. We can help you obtain both your city and state cannabis licenses. We offer in-person, phone and Zoom consultations to address your questions regarding the cannabis industry and the cannabis business license application process.

During the consultation, you will meet with attorney Damian Nassiri at his office in Newport Beach. Mr. Nassiri has specialized in cannabis law since 2009. The consultation lasts an hour and a half and Mr. Nassiri will consult with you regarding the cannabis laws, cannabis business license application process at both the city and state level, which cities and counties are offering cannabis licenses, the zoning issues, licensing fees, taxes, ect. Mr. Nassiri will answer all of your questions and explain everything to you during the consultation.

The in-person cannabis consultation typically lasts about an hour to an hour and a half, and Mr. Nassiri will discuss the legal issues surrounding cannabis businesses at the federal, state and local levels. We will answer all of your questions and if you have any particular cities you are looking at, we can provide you with specific legal advice regarding that city/county and its requirements to obtain a cannabis license. We will also provide you with a list of all of the cities and counties that are currently accepting cannabis license applications, which types of licenses they are offering as well all of the legal requirements to obtain those licenses. We also discuss with you those cities and counties that are scheduled to offer cannabis licenses in the near future.

Most clients will do the consultation first, and then move forward with finding a location and then filing the cannabis business license application with the city or county first, and then apply for the state license. You will need to obtain both a city and state cannabis business license before you can begin your cannabis business operations.

Our fees to do the cannabis license for your business will range depending on which city or county you choose to locate your business. Some cities and have more requirements than others. Whether you do the consultation in person or remotely, your consultation fee is later credited towards the fee we charge to do the cannabis business license application service.

Typically, cities and counties will require you to have a location first before you apply. Our cannabis application service covers most of the items required by the city and state for the license. These items typically include such things as a business plan, safety and security plan, labor and employment plan, community benefits plan, neighborhood compatibility plan and an odor control plan. Each client will need to obtain “site plans” and/or “floor plans”, which are like blueprints. We do not do those here because we are not architects or engineers, but we can refer you to the right person to do your plans.

Each city is different in what they require and that is why we strongly advise that you do the consultation with us before you begin looking for locations for your cannabis business. Our full package service also includes incorporating your business as a corporation or LLC of your choosing. This also included your first board meeting and a corporate binder.
